I've been a scoundrel living down by the quarry

Did you know there used to be a race track in Carpentersville? It closed in the late 1960's and is now a forest preserve (Raceway woods). I walked there today. There is a 3.75 mile walking track of what used to be the race track, which goes in a loop. There are some pretty good uphill/downhill parts that really work your legs! I also went off the trail (which is where I took most of these pictures) and wasn't really lost but walked more than I intended to!

There were a bunch of these web clusters all over the trees with bugs and larvae in them. Gross but cool.
